えと

きにょうびでんしゃでにかえりました。

どようびにWoodbury Commonsへいきました。

I certainly bought a lot. Perhaps I lack a sense of money, spending so much when I earn nothing.

I won the Engineering Student Council elections! I will now be the new Alumni Affairs and Professional Development Representative.

I have been searching for a summer internship since January to no avail. This is very discouraging.

しずか

せんしゅうはむずかしいです。

かようびごぜんくじからごごよじにほんごをべんきょしました。

I was stuck in the Bahamas an extra two days with little money, burned body, and low spirits, wanting badly to come back to the states.

I lost the election to become Vice President of the Chinese Students Club.

I had an interview in the financial district @ 9 am on Thursday, having prepared all night (and still not doing well) instead of studying for my Japanese midterm, for which I frenziedly crammed.

On the upside, I watched Fujiya & Miyagi in concert. Hoheup is fun. Went to Shake Shack and had yummy custard and Shack Stack in the rain. Was a big sib to an adopted girl from China on Saturday. Am going to run for ESC Professional Development and Alumni Relations Representative. Will have so much time without CSC.

Everything is rushing by so quickly, and yet, I still feel like I’m standing still.

gochisosamashita

Happy New Year!

So I celebrated by going home to New Jersey where we had a big family dinner with a few extra guests. It was really relaxing, just talking, not caring about work, and enjoying my surroundings.

Went to Saigon Grill for lunch today with parents. Took forever to find parking. I would say combined efforts equal 25 minutes.

For dinner, I went to Aburiya Kinnosuke, where we had
Tofu in bamboo basket, Scrambled Egg with Eel, Tsukune, Pork Cheek (Robata Grill), Miso Cod, Eggplant, Asparagus, Hangar Steak with Plum Sauce, Chicken Meatballs in Hot Pot, and White Rice Cooked in Earthenware with Sardines and Salmon. The meal was light but filling. The flavors were expected and fairly light. It was tasty, but nothing really blew me away.

For dessert, we decided to go to Kyotofu, a dessert-specialty establishment in Hell's Kitchen. I had gone a couple of months ago, and really enjoyed the Kaikei. Tonight, we had the Chocolate Mochi Cake, Crystal Plum Sake Anmitsu, and the tasting menu, the most unique of which included the Sancho Pepper Cheesecake (creamier and sweetier than I remembered). It was a nice touch, not too heavy, not too sweet, though I do feel partially disappointed. The service was not up to par, the wait was extra long (40 minutes, much longer than the "15 minutes" ETA), and the anmitsu was already in the sampler. However, Kyotofu is still a great experience, and the tastes are fresh and unique. Upon leaving, I tried to say gochisosoma (which apparently is too informal), but was not loud enough; however, my sister was successful in complementing the chef (though I am not too sure if Ritsuko Yamaguchi paid attention).

So apparently, without the Windows XP SP 2 CD, I am unable to install Nihongo writing capabilities on my computer =( - surely there must be another way?

I love eating; unfortunately, my appetite has disappeared all this week because of some food poisoning and/or stomach virus. Looking at or even thinking about what has made me so happy only last week now makes me want to barf. It is rather unfortunate, and I hope it disappears very soon.

A lot of homework this weekend - more than any other this semester, and I am rather worried =/ I hope I have the motivation and concentration to really push myself through it all.

ITASA 2007

Taiwan-America desu.

Just got back from Harvard for the Intercollegiate Taiwanese-American Student Association conference. It was quite fun, meeting new people from all over the northeast, but not as many as I had hoped.

My team (with help from 3 MIT girls) won the IRON CHEF competition! WOOT! The clincher? Glutinous rice balls with red bean paste and tomato seeds. Yeah - the secret ingredient was tomatoes. Pretty hard, but we had amazing comments, and they were genuinely impressed!

I had a lot of fun, and hopefully can keep in touch with some people. Seminars were nothing special so that was disappointing, but definitely had memorable times.

Studying all this hiragana is very difficult - ahhh.
